what, not who, is Ned?

What lurks behind the mask...?

what, not who, is Ned?

I've just been wondering what Ned exactly is, is he a demon? or a human, with a really awesome sword? :P

I'm guessing the first one, but you can never be to sure

Well Asmodai, I'm glad you asked!

(mainly because now i get to bore you with a bunch of Ned trivia :P)

Ned, known to many as "The Chainsaw Guy" is one of nine Destroyers, all siblings, who are by far and wide the most feared demons of the Abyss, and otherwise. From the moment of their inception by means long since forgotten in Eons past, the nine siblings were trained in the art of warfare. For thousands of years they honed their skills, sometimes working together, other times in solitude. Ned has been quoted as saying that even something as simple as Walking took centuries to master. Of course, he has also been seen walking across the back of a sleeping hyper-slug with razor wire strapped to his feet, seeminlgy without the beast feeling a thing... When they finally met the incomprehensible demands of their creators, they were set loose to wreak havoc on the Multiverse. Of course, this havoc would have to be contractually agreed upon in advance with all parties giving their consent and signing a standard disclaimer.

The Nine went on their individual ways, each gaining great fame or infamy, and generally doing their creators proud. Making a name for themselves as the type of Demons who will not be stopped until they achieve their goals.

The most frightening aspect of the nine though, was only recently unveiled. On top of their unparalleled prowess in combat, it was discovered (unfortunately) that should one of the Nine be defeated, and killed, their death would cause a cataclysm of such magnitude that the very fabric of the dimention they were occupying would unravel, leaving nothing behind. That way, the Nine can guarantee that their quarries are always brought down. Be it for justice, vengance, or any other claim. For the right price, the Nine will live up to their namesake, go forth, and Destroy.

And thats the short version :P

hope that answers the question :)

I take it then that only 8 of the nine remain?
Are they allowed to accept a contract against each other?
Amounting to a dimension destroying bomb wouldn't that make them the target of anyone who wanted to commit a bit of genocide?

And thats the short version :P

Whats the long version?

I have to agree on BlueDao on this, curiosity is killing me :P

then again, I dont want this to become rushed, and thus become some fast written work...

awesome new page! :D

EDIT:

Hmm after viewing the latest page, I got yet another question... Angels...

We've seen demons, so what about angels? or are they considered to be demonic? and if Angels are not to be demons, and are in the story, what about God?

AHA!

keen observation Mr Asmodia.

Hard question to answer without giving away to many ubber spoilers so let me see....

Right now in the webcomic we've been focusing mostly on demons. as for angels well, you've seen Lucy and in one sense, yes she is an angel, but to be more precise she's a valkyrie.

As for gods....we'll we're not gonna get to that for quite some time. Omer and myself have thought long and hard about the epistemology and metaphysical rules for this world based on various mythologies and some fairy tale influences. Being a literature and philosophy major for quite some time, we may have taken things a bit to far....but we'll see ;)

When the gods are finally revealed...heheh it will be something rather groovy, if I do say so myself.

Cheers,
-Oren

I love mythology, especially the kind with great visuals xD
